Alexander Canedo ... Alexander Canedo (1902-1978) was a Mexican-American artist primarily influenced by the 1920s. The 1920s and 1930s saw continued development and evolution of the key innovations of the primary years of the twentieth century. To have this time as the formative period for an artist was to be surrounded by inspiring practitioners of the pictorial arts. It was also a time of recovery and introspection after the hor-rors of the First World War, which saw significant shifts in the political world. Marxism was a prevalent political ideology which was also tremendously influential amongst artists and their communities. Im-portant artistic developments included a kind of expressive mannerism which was epitomised by Brancu-si, Modigliani and Soutine in Paris.

 

Mark Beard ... Mark Beard, born in 1956 in Salt Lake city, now lives in New York City. His works are in museum collections worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City; the Museum of Modern Art, New York City; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York City; the Boston Museum of Fine Arts; and the Harvard, Yale, and Princeton University Art Museums; among many others.

 

James Childs ...Born in 1947, the basis of James Childs’ art today is his study with Richard Lack (1971-74) and R.H.Ives Gammell (Summers 1971 -73), an education based in Boston Impressionism and the traditions of the Ecole des Beaux Arts transmitted through Gammell’s master, William McGregor Paxton who studied with Dennis Miller Bunker and the great Gerome in Paris - a tradition transmitted in an unbroken line from the Florentine Renaissance. Childs amplified these studies by extensive copying of the Masters and comparative research in 19th. Century and Renaisance painting and drawing. The Greek aesthetic informs his personal ideal. He has a B.F.A. from The Minneapolis College of Art and Design and spent a year at Atelier 63 in Haarlem, Holland, founded and taught by members of the expressionist group COBRA, Ger Lataster and Karl Apprl. James Childs work can be described as a modern hybrid of Classical Greek idealism, the influence of the Fifteenth Century Italian "gusto grande’, and the refinement of the great Academic masters of 19th. Century France. His color is inspired by his personal reaction to nature, to Boston Impressionism and to French Post-Impressionism.

 

 

Albert Copieux ... Albert Copieux (1885-1956), peintre, graveur et aquarelliste, a longtemps tenu secrète une oeuvre monumentale constituée de 1530 dessins et croquis de guerre, réalisée en cinq ans de mobilisation au front. En 1928, conscient de leur extraordinaire valeur, Alphonse Saladin, ami de Copieux, et conservateur du musée des beaux-arts du Havre, exposait la totalité de cet ensemble, qui retrace avec véracité une vision terrible et tragique de la Première Guerre mondiale. Le MuMa conserve, parmi un ensemble de 30 oeuvres de l'artiste, 18 dessins de guerre.

Roland Berger ... Roland Berger is an artist who was born in 1942. He has produced a small array of linocut prints from his Berlin studio since the 1970s, and this is one of his best. Other examples are owned by the Leslie-Lohman Museum in New York.

 

Anton Maliar ... Anton Maliar (b.1986) is an independent contemporary Ukrainian painter. In his practice, Anton uses traditional media - oil, acrylic, watercolor, and gouache for painting; pastels, pencil, charcoal and ink for drawings.

 

Gustau Donat ... Gustau Donat lives in Valencia, Spain. He studied Fine Arts and Philosophy and he has been a teacher of drawing and painting in various workshops. He is currently in the exercise of painting.

 

Zane Maxwell ... Zane Maxwell (1982-) studied calligraphy and sumi-e (sumi ink paintings) in Tokyo, Japan. Maxwell is from Honolulu, HI - United States.

 

Bernard Perlin ... Bernard Perlin (1918-2014) was an American painter. He is primarily known for creating pro-war art during World War II and magic realism paintings of urban American life.

 

Boris Talberg ... Born in 1930, Boris Talberg was an extraordinary painter, muralist and a graphic artist. He studied at the Moscow Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (MIPIDI) at the faculty of monumental painting in GI Rublev (1949-1952) and at the Leningrad Higher School of Industrial Art named after VI Fly (LVHPU them. Mukhina) (1952-1953). The main subject matter in Talberg’s paintings is sports, primarily gymnastics. Much of his work resides in the collection of the Belgorod State Art Museum. He worked in various techniques and genres of monumental and decorative art, as well as in the field of easel painting (plot-thematic painting, portrait) and graphics. “Images of the Master”, is one of the often used expressions of the artistic conception of the 1960’s in the field of monumental painting, the fight against neoacademism. Honoured Artist of the RSFSR, member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, laureate of Lenin Komsomol Prize and the USSR State Prize. Talberg received the State Prize of the USSR in 1981 for his work "Hospitable Russia." He is an author of mosaic panels on the museum-panorama "Battle of Borodino" facade in Moscow. Today, his mosaics are included in the register of historical and cultural monuments of Moscow and on the List of World Heritage Sites.

 

André Delfau ... André Delfau (1914-2000) né à Paris, fait les Etudes et Arts appliqués et les Beaux-Arts.
